TIPS AND HINTS FOR TEACHERS

The Southwest Education Staff provides the TIPS and HINTS page to help teachers improve student performance by learning how to use the Southwest Education programs more effectively. Please feel free to contact our staff at any time to learn more about our programs.

How do I enroll new students on the Reading Plus Program?

Go to your teacher home page. At the bottom right of the page you will see student, and then click new. All you have to do is enter the first name, last name and current grade level on the next page. Then make sure you click the apply button.

If you have students that are already enrolled and want to change their  classes or teachers, then click the enrollment button on the home page. On the next page you will see a large square divided in two parts. On the left side you will see a complete list of the students signed up to use the Reading Plus program. If there is teacher's name next to their name, that means that they are enrolled in that teacher's class. If no name appears, then they are not enrolled in any class. On the right square you can select a teacher or a class and see a list of the students in that class on the right square. You can highlight a student's name and un-enroll them from that class. You can highlight a student on the left square and enroll them in the class, right side.

Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

Why do I need to set a schedule on the Reading Plus program?

By setting a schedule, the program will give each student a pre-test and then provides them with individulized lessons. It helps to monitor time and progress.

TIPS FROM READING PLUS TRAINERS:
1. Make sure your students use their re-read buttons.
2. Read your stories in sequence.
3. Consider giving struggling students a visagraph test.
